Elyse Winer

As a former operator, Partner Elyse Winer has a passion for commercializing early-stage technologies and works shoulder-to-shoulder with Material Impact entrepreneurs to take their technology from emerging to iconic.

During her startup career, she has worn many commercial hats touching fundraising, marketing, brand, communications, business development, sales, strategy, and general management.

With this thorough insider experience, Elyse knows what it takes to build enduring deep tech brands that resonate with customers and capitalize on gaps in the marketplace.

Elyse’s track record of partnering with technology startups and large companies to build brands, develop commercial strategies, and launch game-changing products has earned recognition from Forbes as a “30 Under 30” honoree in Marketing & Advertising, from the Sports & Fitness Industry Association as a “Future Industry Leader”, and from the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association as a “Rising Star”.

Elyse developed her love for early-stage, materials-based technologies when she led marketing for MC10, a University of Illinois-spinoff commercializing a unique conformal electronics platform for the sports, fitness, and healthcare industries. While there, Elyse was responsible for transitioning the technology’s brand from the lab to the marketplace, and would later go on to launch the company’s first product in collaboration with Reebok.

After MC10, Elyse served as Vice President for Lose It!, where she was responsible for driving the marketing, communications, and PR for the industry-leading digital health and fitness platform. There, she launched Snap It™, an award-winning app feature that used advanced image recognition and machine learning to identify a food’s nutritional information from a photo. Prior to catching the startup bug, Elyse was a consultant with the healthcare management consulting firm Vynamic, where she partnered with pharmaceutical companies to bring new medications to market. Elyse began her career on Wall Street with Merrill Lynch.

Elyse is a champion of impact and diversity — not just as a sector for investment, but also as a superpower for founders and a true competitive advantage in the market. Annually, Elyse is responsible for publishing Material Impact’s Diversity & Impact report and partners with B Corporation to administer the B Impact Assessment across our portfolio.
